A Little Paint Can Open Your Eyes

It is kind of an interesting phenomena that when we reach a point in our lives that involve a decision to chose another road to travel down, that road not only leads to new opportunities but it also leads to new ways of seeing the world.

I am not sure what influences what, the opportunities influencing the way someone sees the world or the way we see the world allowing us to recognize new opportunities, however I know that when I decided to finally open my own training facility I have looked at things differently.  Now everywhere I go I find myself trying to figure out how many square feet the room is, how they painted and organized the fixtures etc.  In a way it is fun but it can also consume you.  Before I found myself randomly counting everything because I was used to doing that for my clients now I am thinking about color schemes and floor plans.

I decided to paint my gym and rearrange a few things and last weekend I did just that.  It was very time consuming and tedious, but the end product made it worth it because I ultimately feel good about taking time to do it.

I really thought that I would have had a more unanimous reaction of overwhelming praise from my clients, but to my surprise the reactions were very different from the ones who didn’t even notice anything had changed to the ones who looked at every angle to make sure I didn’t miss a spot.

The bottom line is that people are different, walk different paths and therefore, they view the world in many ways.  Some people won’t notice or even care what your gym looks like aesthetically and some will take great notice and appreciate what you have done.  So to cater to both types and to make, even yourself, feel better about where you work and the environment you establish for your clients remember that little paint and rearranging can go a long way.
